Music Scholarships
- Music scholarships are awarded in a variety of areas and require an individual audition
- Students will be contacted with a choice of audition times when their application is received
- Although priority is given to application received by March 15, scholarships will continue to be awarded to strong candidates as long as funds are available
- Students must demonstrate musical ability and evidence of musical experience
- The music program reserves the right to cancel the scholarship for the second semester if all requirements are not satisfactorily met
John B. and Carolyn Allen Memorial Scholarship
Amount of scholarship: Varies
Requirements:
- Maintain full-time student status
- Major in music
- Maintain cumulative 2.0 GPA
- Demonstrate financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines
Harriette Vankey Bruns
Amount of scholarship: Varies
Requirements:
- Preference given to a full-time student majoring in music and in their second or third semester with a minimum of 12 hours completed at Pellissippi State
- The recipient must have made a significant contribution to and exhibit the potential to increase the excellence of the program as determined by the full-time music faculty
- Demonstrate financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines
Helen W. Cox Memorial
Amount of scholarship: Varies
Requirements:
- Be enrolled as a full- or part-time student
- Participate in one or more Pellissippi State Choral Ensembles
- Participate in the Sanctuary Choir at the First Baptists Church and one other music group for a maximum of four hours per week for 15 weeks each semester
General Music
Amount of Scholarship: Varies
Requirements:
- Requires an individual music audition and recommendation from music faculty
Rossie and John Mason
Amount of Scholarship: $500 ($250 fall/$250 spring)
Requirements:
- Preference given to a piano major who accompanies a college vocal group
- Second preference given to other music majors who participate in a college performing group
- Maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA
- Maintain full-time student status
Music Service
Amount of Scholarship: $500 per semester
Requirements:
- Maintain full-time student status
- Maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA
- Must follow all requirements listed on the syllabus of the respective ensemble to the satisfaction of the ensemble director or scholarship will be rescinded the following semester
- Must be recommended by music faculty
