The following information applies to regular full-time and regular part-time employees.
To be eligible for insurance programs, the employee must be employed in a regular appointment for a minimum of 1560 hours per year. Regular part-time employees who work less than 37.5 hours per week receive benefits on a prorated basis. Temporary hourly employees and adjunct faculty are not eligible for benefits.

The College pays an average of 80% of the premium cost for employee, spouse, and dependent children.
Eligible to enroll during first full calendar month of employment. Employee may choose from one of two plans: (1) Pre-Paid Plan or (2) Preferred Provider Option (PPO) Plan. Employee-paid premium through payroll deduction.
$20,000 of basic term life available to employee without cost. Optional term life insurance also available for employee, spouse, and dependent children through payroll deduction.
Can choose from one of two vision insurance plans. Employee-paid premium through payroll deduction.
Cancer, Accident, Hospital Indemnity, Personal Sickness Indemnity and Critical Illness through AFLAC. Employee-paid premium through payroll deduction.
SPECIAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE
$40,000 of basic special accident insurance coverage available to employee without cost. Optional special accident insurance also available for employee, spouse, and dependent children through payroll deduction.
LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE
Insurance covers certain services required by individuals who are no longer able to care for themselves without the assistance of others. Employee-paid premium. May be paid through payroll deduction or direct pay to the company.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE
Protection of income if a long-term disability occurs. Employee-paid premium through payroll deduction.
Employee can set aside pre-tax dollars for medical, dental, and dependent care expenses.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Up to five confidential counseling sessions without cost to employee and his/her family members. Number of sessions needed is decided in each case by professionally trained counselors. Legal and Financial Services consultation also available.
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
Full time employees receive a fee waiver for one credit class per semester. After six months employment, other educational assistance is available for employee, based on funding. Spouses and dependent children receive a 50% fee discount on undergraduate classes.
RETIREMENT - Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS)
Eligible upon employment. TCRS is a defined benefit plan, and benefits are based on salary and years of service. Pellissippi State contributes to the TCRS fund for employees. All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible. Faculty and exempt employees may choose TCRS or one of the Optional Retirement Plans.
RETIREMENT - Optional Retirement Plans (ORP)
All regular full-time and regular part-time faculty and exempt employees may choose an ORP, which is a defined contribution plan. The College makes contributions equal to 10% of the employee’s salary to the ORP fund(s) chosen by the employee. Three options are available:
TAX DEFERRED ANNUITIES
Employee may contribute money to a 401(k), 403(b), and 457. The College matches the first $50 contributed to a 401(k) account.
Eligible to earn after more than 50% of month worked.
A Maximum accrual applies. Any accrued amount beyond the maximum will be converted to sick leave on June 30 each year.
00 - 05 years service - 7.5 hours per month
05 - 10 years service - 11.3 hours per month
10 - 20 years service - 13.2 hours per month
20+ years service - 15.0 hours per month
Accrue 15 hours per month accrued.
Eligible after more than 50% of the month has been worked. 7.5 hours earned per month.
Employees receive the following paid days: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and six (6) other days as determined by the institution. Related policies:
