English as a Second Language Program (ESL)

Pellissippi offers English as a Second Language {ESL) coursework to fulfill the needs for all levels of English speakers. Each level includes 3 subject areas: Reading, Writing, and Grammar. We also offer a Listening course to assist in conversational English skills. While students are taking ESL courses at Pellissippi, they can also register for select College level Academic courses. The ESL program at Pellissippi is designed to prepare students to continue in pursuit of their Associates Degree or their professional and personal goals.

When a new student arrives to campus,he/she will be either placed in courses based on previous TOEFL scores or scheduled to take the English Language Placement Test. The results of the student's placement test will determine the level of classes the student takes in their first semester.

Please see the English Language Testing page.
