Assistant Professor

B.F.A., BA., University of Georgia, Athens
M.F.A., Maryland Institute College of Art

Caroline Covington's sculptural practice combines both traditional object-making with work in the expanded field. "My own artistic practice shifts materials constantly. The more mediums, materials, and methods I can explore in my work, the more articulate my work becomes. In turn, I strive to inspire my students to keep finding new, unexpected ways to practice art." From blacksmithing to interactive installations, her current work exposes common anxieties and apprehensions felt towards the myths of the past and the uncertainties of the future, often revealed through rituals, superstitions, and rites of passage. She has exhibited nationally including Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, San Diego, CA, Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC, and conducted performances in Philadelphia, PA, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Baltimore, MD.
