Oxford Reference Online - provides searchable access to 100 dictionary and reference titles pubished by Oxford Press including The Concise Oxford Companion to the Theatre.

The following journals are available at the Pellissippi library in the Reference area. Many journals now have websites, providing the table of contents and access to selected articles in the current printed journal. Many include additional information and resources in certain subjects.

Reference Books
Drama for Students. . David Galens, Lynn Spampinato, editors. Gale, 1998. Ten volumes.  REF PN 1601 .D595 Covers a range of dramas from 5th century B.C. to the 1990s. Provides a concise summary  of the plot and characters for each play as well as an explanation of the themes and techniques used in the drama.  The series also includes background information on the historical context of the play and its critical reception.

Critical Survey of Drama. Magill, ed. Salem Press, 1994. Seven volumes. REF PR 623 .C75 1994 Indexed by author, entries provide a brief biographical sketch, an analysis of the dramatist's plays, and a bibliography of significant criticism on the dramatist. Volume 6 contains essays which discuss dramatic genres, drama from various nations and ethnic groups, and staging and production.

Drama Criticism. Trudeau, ed. Gale Research Inc., 1991. Three volumes. REF PN 1625 .D72 Presents excerpts from criticism of major dramatists. Writers representing a wide range of nationalities and periods are included. Each entry contains biographical information, a list of principal works, excerpts from criticism, and a bibliography for further reading.

Masterplots II: Drama Series.
Magill, ed. Salem Press, 1990. Four volumes. REF PN 6112.5 .M37 Contains critical evaluations of 327 works of 20th century drama. The majority are English language works but translations from other countries are represented. Volume 4 contains an author index to the set.

Internet Public Library Online Literary Criticism Collection (http://www.ipl.org/div/litcrit/) - contains 3810 critical and biographical websites about authors and their works that can be browsed by author, by title, or by nationality and literary period.
