Event Promotion and Coverage

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to promote?

The Marketing and Communications staff can help you get the word out. We have the expertise and the tools to help you reach your intended audience.

The most convenient way to request promotion of an event is through 25Live, Pellissippi State’s calendar and room reservation system. To assist you in the process, we’ve provided this Event Scheduling Form. By using the form, you can request not only event promotion but also event-related support from Facilities, Educational Technology Services, and Safety and Security. It’s your one-stop shop for event planning. Just fill out the form as soon as your event is confirmed and send it to your area support staff to enter into 25Live. All of these services are free to use.

The Event Scheduling Form allows you to request the following:

News release—News releases are articles distributed to local and regional media and posted on the College’s website and social media outlets. Marketing and Communications considers a variety of factors—e.g., timeliness and newsworthiness—when determining the appropriateness of creating a release.

“Inside Pellissippi” article—“Inside Pellissippi” is a weekly electronic newsletter distributed each Monday to all faculty and staff.

Social media announcement—You may request a social media announcement for an event that doesn’t warrant a release.

Photography—The Marketing and Communications Office may provide a photographer for your event as time and availability permit. If you or your representatives take your own photos, please remember to have each subject complete and sign the College’s photo consent form. Subjects under 18 years of age must have their parent or legal guardian complete the form.

Flat Panel Channel message—This service, provided by Educational Technology Services, allows your message to be shown on the many digital signs located on each campus.

Welcome Board message—This service, also provided by ETS, provides brief messages on the outside, electronic board on the Hardin Valley Campus.

“Panther Pause” brief—“Panther Pause” is a printed flier/newsletter produced monthly by Student Life and Recreation that is posted in restrooms and other highly visible locations.

 

Additional Services

Marketing and Communications provides additional promotional services that are not found on the Event Scheduling Form. Unlike those on the form, these services require a charge to departments. If you have any questions or wish to make a request for any of these services, please contact Julia Wood at jwood@pstcc.edu.

Printed materials—Marketing and Communications is available to promote your event through a variety of printed materials, such as fliers, posters, and brochures. Design and printing charges will apply.

Advertisements—At times, areas wish to promote their events through paid advertising. Marketing and Communications will help with recommendations, design, and placement. Advertising is an expensive venture, so you will need to make sure upfront that appropriate funding and approvals are in place. 

Area-specific tabletop display—If you would like a professional tabletop display to use at events, Marketing and Communications can work with you to get the right photos, copy, and design to attract visitors to your table. Design and printing charges will apply.

You may find that that you need additional items to make your event a success:

College wide tabletop and large displays, tablecloth and runner with the College’s logo—These items are available for your use at trade shows, college fairs, formal presentations and other venues on behalf of Pellissippi State. They are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Promotional items—Marketing and Communications has limited quantities of promotional items available to departments and offices of the College at no charge, for recruitment purposes.
