President Allen Edwards has taken his knowledge of and enthusiasm for community colleges to the world. He recently returned from speaking at a two-day European Union conference in Brussels, Belgium. (more)

Rebecca Ashford became the College’s new vice president of Student Success and Enrollment Management on July 1. (more)


Alternate schedule offered to combat fuel costsgas
Gas prices are the topic on everyone’s mind. The average cost of fuel in Knoxville as of June 27 was $4.24 a gallon, according to AAA. With costs continuing to rise, Pellissippi State is doing its part to help students economize. (more)




Byrd new dean of English
Pellissippi State has selected Kathy Byrd, an associate professor, to be the new dean of the English Department. Byrd replaces Lois Reynolds, who recently stepped down after 18 years. (more)


Students receive scholarships at Tourism Alliance luncheonkta
Two Hospitality students, Irene Huerto and Michelle Jenkins-Stigge, were recently awarded a scholarship from the Knoxville Tourism Alliance, and Huerto also was presented a scholarship from the East Tennessee Meeting Professionals Organization. (more)

College now offering game design, programming certificates
The Media Technologies and Computer Science and Information Technology degree programs have come together to offer two new institutional certificates revolving around the video game and simulation industry. (more)


Fast-track program puts students ‘AHEAD’
Thanks to the College’s Accelerated Higher Education Associate’s Degree program, students can complete their Business Administration degree in 16 months. (more)
