myPellissippi Tip: The "P" number

What is a “P” number?

mypellissippi tipThe P number is a unique nine-digit number issued to all students, staff and faculty of Pellissippi State. Prior to the P number, Social Security numbers were used to access individual information such as grades, admission status and human resources information. By using the P number, we can provide better protection and security of your personal information as you access and use services at Pellissippi State. Starting this fall, Pellissippi State staff will ask for your P number rather than your Social Security number. Please memorize your P number and avoid writing it down and posting it in easily accessible places.

What are the differences between my P number, username and password?

P number:  The P number is a unique nine-digit number issued to all students, staff and faculty of Pellissippi State. Your P number will be required in place of your Social Security number to access information and services at Pellissippi State.

Marketing and Communications has developed cards for you to use to help remember your P number. The cards are blank but have a place for you to write in your P number and then carry it in your wallet, if you choose. Human Resources will distribute the cards this week through departments.

Your P number will also appear on the Pellissippi State ID/library cards for faculty and staff. To get a card, go to the circulation desk in the library and tell them your P number. They will then issue a card to you.
