Pellissippi State student takes top prize in Olympus photo contest
A Pellissippi State Photography student has earned a first place in a national competition sponsored by Olympus.
Jason Richards won the Environmental Issues category of Olympus Imaging America Inc.’s “Photographers of Tomorrow” contest. The competition was open to students from 12 colleges and universities with top photography programs. The winners were announced in June.
“This will definitely open a lot of doors for me,” Richards said.
The College opened a new state-of-the-art photography studio earlier this year. The facility is housed in the Bagwell Center for Media and Art. The KD Lawson Photography Studio is named in honor of the former head of Photography, KD Lawson. Lawson passed away unexpectedly in November 2007.
