April 8 reading by Writer-in-Residence Francisco

The presentation is part of the series of activities related to the school’s Common Academic Experience, which this year revolves around class readings and discussion of the graphic-style novel “Persepolis.” The book is based on the childhood of its author, Marjane Satrapi, an Iranian woman who lived through the Islamic Revolution of the late seventies. April 17 Festival of Cultures celebrated with dance, music, food

More than 20 countries on five continents will be represented at the annual Festival of Cultures. That translates into a celebration that includes Vietnamese dragon dancers, live jazz and bluegrass music, Mexican tamales, Asian pork, colorful and informative exhibitor booths, and a whole lot more.  (more)

CGT student earns prestigious ADDY award

In any industry, it can be difficult to stand out from competitors. But in the advertising world, where professionals are paid to garner attention for their clients, the struggle to be noticed is especially aggressive. It seems an unlikely place for an industry newcomer in graphic design to be recognized with an award that some veterans have yet to achieve. (more)

Pellissippi State grad: from home-school to art gallery

Look up the definition of home-schooling and you’ll find something along the lines of “instructing in an educational program outside of established schools.” Public perception may be that home-schoolers lack structure, that parents teach whatever they like, whenever. But anyone with firsthand experience will emphasize the “program” aspect of home-schooling, the planned tailoring of instruction to each child.  (more)


Pellissippi State book sale raises scholarship funds

The annual Faculty Senate Book Sale, hosted at all four campus locations of Pellissippi State, raised $6,000. Funds go to the Pellissippi State Foundation to benefit student scholarships. (more)
