November begins internal giving campaign, continues external campaign

‘Tis the season to think about giving. No, it’s not Christmas yet—but it is the time of year for both the Pellissippi State Foundation’s 2009-2010 Internal Campaign and the 2009 Tennessee Board of Regents Employees Charitable Campaign.

The TBR Employees Charitable Campaign has been under way since October 16, when the College’s Human Resources office e-mailed the information. “Joining Together, Making a Difference” is a statewide online fundraising effort for three major charitable groups: Community Health Charities Tennessee, Community Shares and United Ways of Tennessee.

Everything a donor needs is in the electronic booklet from TBR, including the pledge form. The Employees Charitable Campaign ends this Friday, November 6, so please consider giving … soon.

The Foundation’s Internal Campaign will be up close and personal. In fact, you can expect a visit soon from volunteers in your area.

The campaign starts today (November 2) and runs through Friday, November 13. Campaign volunteers will be passing out pledge forms and information about how you can benefit our students through Pellissippi State’s scholarships, programs, endowments, building funds and so much more.

“Our goal this year is to have 100 percent participation from our faculty and staff,” said Pat Myers, director of Alumni Relations and annual giving. “Annual gifts from our campus community members provide a vital component in the support of student success.”

Campaign organizers have planned a celebration at the conclusion of the campaign for all faculty and staff and at each of the campuses. Also, a plaque will be presented on Employee Recognition Day in April to the council with the highest percentage of campaign participants.

“And, don’t be surprised if you see some stranger people than normal at a campus near you,” Myers said. “Super Snooper and crew will be out looking for clues that will lead us to record-breaking campaign numbers.”

The Foundation’s Internal Campaign raised $42,893 from more than 300 pledges last year, with 68 percent of employees participating.

This year’s campaign co-chairs are Tom Gaddis, Faculty Senate; Ann Burgess, Support Staff Council; and Audrey Williams, Administrative Council.
