TITLE:
Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
REPORTING SUPERVISOR:
President of the College
JOB OBJECTIVES:
To be responsible for the development, management, and administration
of all academic and student affairs, including faculty, instructional
improvement projects, curriculum, course schedules, evaluation, academic
support services, budget, student development, student life, admissions,
records, and learning and testing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
30% Direct academic department heads responsible for
implementation of transfer and career academic programs.
5% Provide academic and student services
through distance learning and site campuses.
30% Supervise learning services including advisement and
articulation, counseling, curriculum and instruction,
15% Supervise student services including admissions and records,
students with disabilities services, student life and recreation, and career
placement.
5%
Participate with regional economic development efforts and
industry training needs.
5% Provide remedial/developmental programs in compliance with Tennessee
Board of Regents guidelines.
5% Coordinate and manage the academic and student affairs
budgets and supervise grant programs.
5% Assist the President in developing
and implementing the College's goals and policies and make recommendations on
employment of personnel and on promotion and tenure.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
JOB STANDARDS:
A. Doctorate from a regionally
accredited institution required.
B. Four years of community college-level
teaching experience required.
C. Senior supervisory experience at a
community college (department head or above) required.
D. Demonstrated interpersonal and
communication skills.
E. Proficiency in oral and written
expression.
F. Knowledge of and demonstrated
ability in curriculum development and instructional methodology.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE:
Management skill; curriculum development and program review
experience; commitment to the goals of a comprehensive technical community
college and the needs of a diverse student body; familiarity with instructional
technology; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including
listening, writing, and speaking.
JOB LOCATION:
The primary job location is the College's
EQUIPMENT:
Work activities
will involve direct use of a networked personal computer, along with use of
standard word processing software, printer, copier, telephone, and other office
equipment.
