TITLE:

Executive Director of Business and Community Services

Reporting Supervisor:

President of the College

Job Objective:

To be responsible for the development, management, and administration of all Business and Community Services, including community services, business and industry services, certificate programs, professional development programs, facility rentals and the TN Small Business Development Center.

Essential Job Functions:

40%  Provide leadership for noncredit workforce development programs for business and industry, including computer, industrial/technical, environmental, quality, small business, and professional organization training.

15%  Supervise continuing education programs for community  citizens, including personal enrichment, youth, K-12, and senior citizen programs.

10%  Supervise all professional and clerical staff associated with the division of Business and Community Services.

6%  Participate as college/division representative in area community organizations.

5%  Monitor financial reporting and evaluation of entire division.

5%  Participate in industrial recruitment activities with area Chambers, industrial boards and other economic development agencies as well as make direct contacts with area business and industry.

5%  Provide leadership for activities of the TN Small Business Development Center.

5%  Represent the division to the internal college community as needed and attend external community functions on behalf of the President as requested.

5%  Supervise credit certificate programs.

2%  Facilitate effective communication among administrative units.

2%  Participate as a member of the President’s Staff.

 

Non Essential Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned by the President

 

Job Standards:

A.     Masters degree in related field

B.     Five years administrative/managerial experience

 

Critical Skills/Abilities/Expertise/Experience:

A.     A broad understanding of general business and management practices,

B.     Interpersonal and human relations skills,

C.     Verbal and written communication skills,

D.     Planning and management skills to perform successfully the planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position.

 

Job Location:

The primary job location is the main campus on the Pellissippi Parkway in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Travel within the College’s two county service area and to other TBR and vendor sites will be required.

 

Equipment:

Work activities will involve direct use of a networked personal computer, along with use of standard word processing software, printer, copier, telephone, and other office equipment.
