TITLE:  Administrative Assistant to the President

REPORTING SUPERVISOR:  President

JOB OBJECTIVES: To assist the president in his activities as requested and oversee daily operation of the office by supervising student workers, temporary employees, and/or clerical employees

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

20% Plan, co-ordinate, and carry out special projects as directed by the president

20% Monitor progress on various initiatives as requested by the president

20% Schedule and carry out recurring events and administrative processes, such as performance evaluations and in-service activities

20% Coordinate activities with the vice presidents and other members of the president’s staff

05% Develop correspondence for the president’s signature or correspond on the president’s behalf as requested

05% Edit reports, newsletters, and other documents to be disseminated by the president’s office

10% Supervise clerical staff in the president’s office

JOB STANDARDS:

A. Bachelor’s degree

B. Five years of administrative experience

C. Experience in the use of a PC utilizing MicroSoft Word and Outlook

JOB LOCATION:

The President’s Office on the second floor of the administration building at the main campus

EQUIPMENT:

Heavy use of PC, telephone, and fax with some use of typewriter, copy machine, and calculator.

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE:

Ability to maintain good rapport with all college constituencies, internal and external

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to plan, execute, and follow up on multiple, complex projects

Ability to use efficiently PC with MicroSoft Office and Outlook

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform other duties as assigned.
