Welcome from the Dean

portrait of Lisa StammWelcome to the Pellissippi State Nursing Department and to a world of information that can be your key to future success. Initially approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing in 2009, nursing students were admitted to the Magnolia and Blount campuses in August 2010. The first class of 29 students graduated in May 2012. The Pellissippi State nursing program was accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing in 2013, receiving a full 5 year initial accreditation. The program was commended for our “state-of-the-art laboratories” in which students use simulation to apply classroom learning.

In 2013, a Bridge to RN Pathway was initiated which allows LPNs and Paramedics to complete their AASN within 1 year. The nursing program opened a third campus at Strawberry Plains at the same time.

Pellissippi State graduates are achieving distinguished careers as caring, competent professionals through the high standards and excellence promoted by our committed and expert faculty members.  Our students graduate prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities that the world of healthcare has to offer. The nursing department is transforming practice through education by offering a contemporary curriculum that is in keeping with the needs of today’s healthcare environment. We are committed to preparing future nurses with the courage, creativity and passion to use their skills and knowledge to improve the health of individuals and communities.

I hope you will explore our website and learn more about how the Pellissippi State Nursing Department can put you on the path to success.
