Using the Manage Dates Tool
Manage Dates is a new tool for D2L version 9 that allows you to quickly create, delete, and edit course dates from a centralized location. You can, for example, change all of the dates for a course that you just copied from a Master Course into the current semester!
Access the Manage Dates tool by clicking Edit Course > Manage Dates.
Filter Items
- Under Filter Options, select the checkboxes next to the tools you want to include in your search.
If you'd prefer to search through all tools, leave the All option selected.
- Click the
expand icon to view advanced filter options. - Enter additional information to search for items by name, start, or end dates.
Sort Files
Sort files by name, size type, or date modified using the corresponding headers in the items listing table. Reverse the sort order by clicking on the header again.
Add/Remove Dates from Schedule
- Use the Filter and Sort tools to find the items you want to modify.
- Check or Uncheck the appropriate boxes under the schedule header to add or remove an item from the schedule.
Quickly Remove Dates
- Find the item whose date you wish to modify.
- Click on the
delete icon to remove either the start or end date.
Edit Dates
Individual
- Hover over the name of the item whose date you wish to edit.
- Click on the
drop-down icon to load the contextual menu. - Choose the
Edit Dates option. - Adjust the Start or End dates.
- Choose whether to display the item on the schedule or not.
- Click Save.
Multiple
- Use the Filter tool to locate the items dates you want to edit.
- Check the box next to the items.
- Click on the
Edit Multiple Dates icon. - Adjust the Start or End dates.
- Choose whether to display the item on the schedule or not.
- Click Save.
Offset Dates
The offset dates option can be used when scheduled items need to be pushed back or pulled forward X number of days.
Individual Items
- Hover over the name of the item whose date you wish to offset.
- Click on the drop-down icon to load the contextual menu.
- Choose the
Offset Dates option. - Enter the number of days you wish to offset the original dates.
You can click on the
calculator icon to have D2L determine the number of days between two dates for you.
- Click Save.
Multiple Items
- Use the Filter tool to locate the items dates you want to edit.
- Check the box next to the items.
- Click on the
Offset Dates icon. - Adjust the Start or End dates.
- Click Save.
Offsetting dates can also be helpful if class is canceled due to inclement weather or if you need to spend more time on a particular module than originally anticipated.
