Faculty Council
Distance Learning Classrooms
I. The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Byrd.
II. The minutes of Mar. 10 were approved as written.
III. Officer Reports
· President Kathy Byrd
Faculty Council officers for 2004-05 are as follows:
President-elect Mary Monroe-Ellis
Business Officer Ely Driver
Secretary Jonathan Fowler
Parliamentarian Don Thomas
TBR Representative Dave Vinson
Some departments will need new Steering Committee representatives for 2004-05.
The outgoing representatives are to conduct the elections before the next Faculty Council
meeting. K. Byrd will send a reminder via e-mail.
Revision of Promotion/Tenure Policies
A group of faculty will meet with Dr. Bruns to assure that PSTCC policies are
in line with the revised TBR policies.
Meeting with Dr. Edwards
Items discussed included possible tuition increase by TBR and other budgetary
matters.
Effectiveness of Faculty Council
K. Byrd solicits ideas and suggestions for making Faculty Council as effective as
possible. She referred to recent discussion on the FC list-serve about the possibility of a
Faculty Senate. Other ideas are requested also.

The following motion was presented:
Motion: Faculty council should create a
Faculty Council Benevolent Fund through
the
Council.
The motion passed.
· Adjunct Faculty John Fairstein/ Kelly Waldrop
John Fairstein will be stepping down as one of the adjunct faculty representatives
to Steering Committee.
An Ad Hoc Adjunct Faculty Issues Committee is working on several concerns.
One discovery is that many adjunct faculty were not aware that they are full voting
members of Faculty Council.

All who worked on the Book Sale were thanked.

The committee has set a meeting next week.

Programs for next year are being explored.

VII. Announcements
A new student chapter of the American Marketing Association will begin at PSTCC next year. PSTCC is the first community college allowed to start a chapter.
The Music Department announced upcoming concerts.
