Date For July Planning Meeting:Monday, July 15, 2002, 2:30-7:00pm at Lisa Bogaty’s house. The meeting will allow us to plan our year (2002-2003).All reps, committee members and officers should plan to attend.

Deadline for New Faculty Council Reps:Each year, one department rep rotates off the committee and a new department rep joins the Council. Each department is responsible for electing/appointing/anointing their own reps. So far, the English Department has submitted Laurie Stapleton and the Business department, Mae Jean King.Department reps need to discuss this with their departments and the names and addresses of each new rep to Lisa Bogaty by April 30, 2002.

Faculty Council Committees:Committee chairs need to talk to their committees and see who will be on the committees next year.

Announcements:McDaniel asked if Dr. Edwards had been asked about sending non-renewal letters to tenure-track faculty. She noted Austin Peay had done so March 15, 2002.Bogaty noted that she had discussed the situation with Dr. Edwards, who indicated that the College was eliminating degree programs that had had less than 10 graduates a year for over 5 years.Vinson added that Catherine Williams had told him that there was also a problem with overbilling (and now repaying) the Fort Campbell base for classes to the tune of over $2 million.McDaniel warned that we should be diligent about keeping an eye on this. The deadline for renewal letters for 2 year schools is April 15, 2002.

McDaniel asked if Summer School had been discussed.Bogaty noted it had, and at this point, the president says there will be summer school. He did note that we must stay within the budget this year.Bogaty also noted that Division Street would not have a summer school program due to renovations, and that the number (15 for adjunct to teach, 21 for full-time faculty to teach) had not changed.

Bogaty thanked the team for their help in making the year so successful. As of today’s meeting, 706 faculty have participated in FC activities this year.Way to go Steering Committee!!!
