What is Reconnect Now?

Reconnect Now is a last-dollar scholarship for adults available only at Pellissippi State. With the scholarship, college tuition is free for qualified students who wish to earn an associate degree.

What costs will Reconnect Now cover?

As a last-dollar scholarship, Reconnect Now will cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees that aren’t paid for through other state and federal financial aid. Reconnect Now won’t cover the costs of some fees, textbooks and other costs like travel or childcare.

Do I qualify for Reconnect Now?

You qualify for Reconnect Now if

  • You do not have an associate or bachelor's degree
  • You’ve been a Tennessee resident since December 1, 2016
  • You complete the 2017-18 FAFSA by December 8, 2017
  • You are designated as an “independent” on the FAFSA
  • You attend and complete courses at least as a part-time student (minimum six credit hours)

What’s an “independent” on the FAFSA?

You may qualify as an “independent” in several different ways. FAFSA has a useful checklist to see if you qualify.

How do I apply?

To apply for Reconnect Now, you need to apply (or reapply if applicable) to Pellissippi State, enroll in classes, and complete the FAFSA by December 8, 2017. If you meet all of the qualifications for Reconnect Now, we’ll contact you. The sooner you complete the FAFSA, the sooner you’ll know if this scholarship applies to you.

Remember, Pellissippi State also offers dozens of scholarships. Complete the scholarship application to learn if you qualify.

How do I keep the scholarship once I get it?

To earn and keep Reconnect Now funding, you need to

  • Register for classes in an associate degree program
  • Enroll in at least 6 credit hours every fall and spring semester
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • Participate in advising and complete an academic plan by March 2, 2018
  • Renew your FAFSA every year

If I am already enrolled at Pellissippi State and meet all the qualifications, can I earn Reconnect Now funding?

Yes. Adult students currently enrolled at Pellissippi State who meet all the other criteria for Reconnect Now will be eligible to receive the last-dollar scholarship. You will need to complete the FAFSA by the Dec. 8 deadline.

Will Reconnect Now continue past the 2017-2018 academic year?

Pellissippi State anticipates that the state’s Reconnect program will launch in fall 2018, and plans to work with the state to ensure our qualifying students will be rolled into the state’s program.
