Hardin Valley Campus Garden

The Hardin Valley Campus Garden is not only an outdoor education and community service hub, but also a supplier of fresh produce to the Pellissippi Pantry.

The Hardin Valley Garden began in 2016 with 803 square feet and yielded approximately 1,190 lbs. of produce. It has increased in size to 1,346 square feet and yielded over 3,000 lbs. of produce this last calendar year.

The Garden uses organic, permaculture-inspired gardening practices to produce food eleven months of the year. Most of this produce benefits the Pellissippi Pantry, which provides food support to members of the Pellissippi State family who may be experiencing food insecurity.

The garden emphasizes East Tennessee’s foodways — the crossroads of food in culture, traditions, and history, from seed saving to cultivation of heirloom crops, from preserving and canning to cooking with regional recipes and techniques.

Support the Hardin Valley Garden

Volunteer: Students can volunteer in the garden and by collecting compostable waste from the cafeteria to create rich soil for the garden beds. Those interested in volunteering at the Hardin Valley Campus Garden may contact hvg@pstcc.edu to obtain additional information.

Donate seeds: Organic and heirloom seeds may be donated for the garden to the library. Multiple seed-sorting events take place throughout the year.

Donate financially: Financial contributions can be made to the Pellissippi State Foundation.
