Other Exams

From the high school equivalency test (HiSET) to correspondence testing and credit-by-examinations like CLEP and DSST, the Testing Center is your one-stop shop for all other examinations.

High School Equivalency Exam

The high school equivalency test, also called the HiSET, replaces the GED test in Tennessee. Pellissippi State is a testing site for the HiSET, but is not a state Adult Education program.

For more information about Adult Education programs for Knox County, contact the Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Knoxville at 865.546.5567. TCAT can provide information about the official practice test, or OTP, which you must complete before you can take the HiSET. When you are ready to take the exam, go to hiset.ets.org to schedule your test for Pellissippi State and pay for your exam.

TNeCampus Testing

The Testing Center is a proctor site for TNeCampus classes. If you are a TNeCampus student, you may take your exams on any campus and don’t need an appointment. Testing is completed on a walk-in basis. However, please be aware that the Testing Center can become quite crowded during midterm and final exam times. Plan to arrive early in the day to beat the rush.

Some instructors require exams to be proctored. Students can request an exam proctor. You will receive an email containing test dates and times with a proctor. Our Testing Center does not charge proctor fees for TNeCampus testing.

HESI-A2 Pre-Nursing Exam

The Health Education Systems Inc. Admission Assessment Exam-A2 (HESI-A2) is a required exam for all Nursing program applicants, even if you already are an EMT or LPN.

Testing periods are slightly different for the two Nursing pathways. The testing period for the Traditional Pathway is August 2017 through February 28, 2018. The testing period for the Bridge to RN Pathway is August 2017 through January 31, 2018. Visit https://www.registerblast.com/pstcc to register for the exam.

Visit the Nursing program site for complete details to register for the HESI-A2.

Correspondence Testing

The Testing Center can proctor exams for other schools for a proctor fee of $30 per test. To schedule your Correspondence exam and pay the proctor fee, visit https://www.registerblast.com/pstcc. You will need to know the length of your exam prior to registering.

CLEP and DSST Testing

The CLEP and DSST (formerly the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests) are credit-by-examination tests. Pellissippi State accepts certain CLEP and DSST exams for college credit. In addition to the individual test fees, we charge a $30 proctor fee per exam.

To take either exam in the Testing Center, you will need to register for the CLEP or DSST exam before scheduling your testing appointment.

For all CLEP and DSST exams except the DSST Public Speaking, visit https://www.registerblast.com/pstcc to schedule your appointment and pay your proctor fee. For the DSST Public Speaking exam, please call the Testing Center office at 865.694.6454 to schedule an appointment and pay your proctor fee. The DSST CLEP and DSST exams are offered only on certain campuses so please take note which campus is hosting your exam.

A note: If you want to take the CLEP or DSST for credit at another institution, we are happy to give you the exam you request. But remember, not all schools accept the same tests. Call your institution’s admissions office to be certain you take the correct CLEP or DSST. We are not responsible if you request and take the wrong exam.

Microsoft Certification Exams

Microsoft Certification Exams include Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) or Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE). These examinations are free to take for Pellissippi State students, faculty, staff and alumni. Community members must pay for the exam and proctor fee. To take the exams, candidates must register an account with Certiport before scheduling a testing appointment. Visit https://www.registerblast.com/pstcc to schedule your exam and pay your proctor fee.
