Get Connected to a four-year degree... with College Transfer! |
|
| The career I’m interested in requires me to complete a four-year degree. So why should I earn an associate’s degree in one of the College Transfer programs first? The answer is simple: Pellissippi State is an educational bargain. Our tuition is as low as you’ll find in the area, and we offer a variety of financial aid options. In fact, more than a third of our students receive some sort of assistance, including grants, loans, and hundreds of scholarships available through the Pellissippi State Foundation and other sources. But it takes more than low tuition and fees to make us an educational value. We also boast a first-rate, caring faculty whose top priority is teaching. And our small average class size (21 students) guarantees you plenty of one-on-one attention. And when you graduate from Pellissippi State, you’ll leave with the confidence that you’ve gained a strong academic foundation-one that has prepared you to pursue a bachelor’s degree and beyond! Want to take advantage of the excellent educational value our two-year associate’s degree programs offer, then continue on for your bachelor’s degree? When we say that attending Pellissippi State adds up to an educational bargain, we have the numbers to back us up. Check out the following 2003-04 average tuition and fee comparison, reported by the national College Board: Two-year public
institution $1,905 If costs don't rise, that means you'll pay about $4,000 to attend a community college for two years ... versus close to $19,000 for four years at a public school or nearly $79,000 at a four-year private school. Of course, if you go to Pellissippi State the first two years, then transfer to a public or private school for the last two, you've just saved almost $5,000! A college education: great bang for the buck! The College Board also compares level of education with pay. Here are the median annual salaries that correspond to how far you go in school: Master's degree
$66,934 Over a 25-year span, those figures mount up: We could be talking about almost $1,000,000 difference in lifetime earnings! Not too hard to see why continuing your education beyond high school-whether you earn an associate's, a bachelor's or a graduate degree-is critical to your career success. Will my courses transfer to a four-year school? Many of the courses offered by Pellissippi State will transfer to four-year institutions. We have two paths-an articulation agreement and a general associate’s degree. Under the articulation agreement, your courses are guaranteed to meet the requirements of the four-year school to which you intend to transfer. The general associate’s degree requirements provide a range of course options that should allow you to design a program of study that closely matches the first two years of your bachelor’s degree program. But what if my courses won’t transfer? When we tell you
a particular course will transfer to a specific four-year institution,
you can depend on it. In fact, we operate under a policy called the
University Parallel Guarantee that makes this pledge:
