Introducing Encyclopedia Britannica Online

Where can you check the daily news, catch up on your reading of great classical works, use an electronic dictionary and thesaurus, and access over 120,000 research articles all in one place?

You can do all this and more with Encyclopedia Britannica Online, which the Pellissippi Library is proud to introduce into its collection of online databases.

Take a look at the features available to you and find out where you can access Encyclopedia Britannica Online:

With Encyclopedia Britannica Online, students and faculty have access to a wealth of information at the tips of their fingers. Content is collected from two Britannica encyclopedias, multimedia (including photos, illustrations, audio and video files), journals and magazines (selected from EBSCO and ProQuest), and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus.

Users can search the database, or browse A-Z lists and Timelines. Also available are listings of the Web's best sites for different topics, a searchable collection of notable quotations, and the Gateway to the Classics, where users can browse or search for full-text collections of great classical works of literature.

Encyclopedia Britannica Online also keeps users up to date by adding current awareness features to its homepage. Daily news highlights from The New York Times, BBC News, and SBS World News are featured here, along with Britannica Highlights, the Biography of the Day, and This Day in History.

Encyclopedia Britannica Online can be accessed through the Online Databases section of the Pellissippi Library's homepage, or by going directly to the Encyclopedia Britannica Online homepage. Off-campus users will be prompted to enter their Pellissippi username and password to access online resources.
