Pellissippi State Community College and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology are co-hosting an opportunity for students to learn more about earning college course credit before they enroll in college.

The Dual Enrollment Showcase on Oct. 17 will introduce junior high and high school students to the high-demand career programs they can prepare for on Pellissippi State’s Blount County Campus, 2731 W. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Friendsville.

Students can get a jumpstart on college and a career by enrolling in up to five courses with no tuition cost, with an option to take an additional five at a reduced rate with the Dual Enrollment grant.

Faculty will be available to discuss Pellissippi State courses in business management, criminal justice, computer information technology (including cyber defense and networking), culinary arts, electrical engineering technology and hospitality management.

Tennessee College of Applied Technology faculty will provide details about industrial maintenance/mechatronics, diesel powered equipment technology, machine tool technology, practical nursing and welding technology.

Pellissippi State has 1,900 dual enrollment students this fall, an increase of 336 over last year. This is the second Dual Enrollment Showcase Pellissippi State has planned for its Blount County Campus. More than 200 people attended the first one in January, including 68 junior high or high school students.

The Dual Enrollment showcase will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the Ruth and Steve West Workforce Development Center. Refreshments will be provided.

Registration is recommended, but not required. To register, visit www.pstcc.edu/deshowcase/.
