The Pellissippi State Business and Community Services division offers noncredit, lifelong learning classes and workforce development training in East Tennessee. Classes are open to the public and cover everything from professional training to self-improvement to personal hobbies.

We offer a variety of classes throughout the year, including supervision and leadership development, Excel, Quickbooks, welding, NFPA 70E, FANUC robotics and more. If you need a class not currently listed in our schedule, let us know! Private and customized classes can be scheduled by request.
ONLINE CLASSESWe offer a variety of noncredit online certificates and classes to help you grow personally and professionally while on a flexible schedule. There are hundreds of options to choose from with our web-based educational training partners Ed2Go, ProTrain and UGotClass. Browse the certificate and class options listed below based on your needs and interests. As you browse class options, each class has a details page listing the syllabus, computer and software requirements and instructor information. Most online classes are instructor-led, allowing you to learn on a structured six-week schedule with instructor moderation and a discussion board, while some classes offer a longer self-paced completion option. With both class structures, there is not a set day or time that you must login to meet with the instructor or other students in the class. You are able to log into the classroom and participate any time of day or evening.
Whether you want to take a class just for fun, develop your skills or explore a possible career change, our wide range of personal enrichment and career exploration classes can help you meet your goals. Take a class on sign language, writing fiction, SAT/ACT exam prep, medical coding and transcription, stock investments, career exploration in veterinary science and hospitality, business operations and more!
Choose from a variety of noncredit certificates in the areas of business, communication, human resources, management, marketing, technology and more. Classes are typically four to six weeks in length, while full certificate programs can take three to four months to complete. Certificate programs start once each quarter.

Complete a self-paced online training to obtain or renew your license or certification. Contractors may apply for a Limited License with a BC-A/r classification, which restricts residential contractors to building in the amount of $125,000 or less.

Earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) with online classes designed specifically for teachers. Class topics include solving classroom discipline problems, enhancing language development, empowering students with disabilities, integrating technology in the classroom, RTI reading and writing strategies, teaching math and more.

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The Tennessee Small Business Development Center in Knoxville, hosted by Pellissippi State, serves seven counties in East Tennessee. The TSBDC provides small business start-up services but not limited to business plan development, financial planning assistance, marketing plan development, sources of capital and social media guidance.
Pellissippi State Community College offers state-of-the-art facilities and event services to the public through Business and Community Services.
Facilities include the 495-seat Clayton Performing Arts Center, a 150-seat auditorium, a 40-seat executive seminar room, classrooms and many other spaces suitable for speaker events, private and public forums, meetings and lunch/dinner events. Pellissippi State provides easy access to audiovisual equipment, technical support and food service as well as free, ample parking.

Learn what it’s like to work in the fields of advanced manufacturing, engineering and construction! Our variety of camps offer local high school students the opportunity to meet industry professionals and learn about the types of skills needed to succeed on the job. Students will develop a fundamental knowledge of application-based engineering and construction concepts by participating in hands-on projects.

Camps are sponsored and hosted by the Blount County GIVE Grant, which focuses on increasing awareness of and participation in advanced manufacturing and construction-related careers. This is accomplished through working with Alcoa City, Maryville City and Blount County schools, along with industry partners and the Blount Partnership to expand career pathway programs, develop work-based learning opportunities (internships, apprenticeships, etc.) and increase access to industry recognized certifications and testing. Are you interested in a career in aviation? With career opportunities as a pilot, operations manager, engineer, maintenance and quality control technician, administrative personnel or in the armed forces, there is a path for any student with an interest in the industry. Pellissippi State offers a 15-week introduction to aviation class that satisfies the requirement of ground school and is designed to assist teens and young adults ages 16-20 with goals of becoming a professional pilot.

Pellissippi State, the University of Tennessee, Y-12 National Security Complex and Oak Ridge National Laboratory partner each summer to host the ASM Materials Camp, exposing students to the field of materials science and inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists.
This free week-long camp is designed for students entering grades 9-12 and offers hands-on experience using optical and scanning electron microscopes, mechanical testing and analytical equipment in the state-of-the-art labs at both Pellissippi State and the University of Tennessee. Throughout the week, students use the scientific process to learn how materials, specifically metals, react to different environments, including properties at various temperatures, bend and break point testing and more.
