Business and Computer Technology

Statement of Mission:

The mission of the Pellissippi State's Business and Computer Technology (BCT) Department is to meet the educational needs of present and future accounting, business, computer, hospitality, culinary arts, and medical office professionals.

Business and Computer Technology (BCT) is committed to giving students both the classroom education and hands-on experience they need to compete and excel in a wide variety of fields. Whether you are drawn to the applied field of computer technology or you prefer to share ideas at a corporate roundtable, Business and Computer Technology has a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree to suit your needs.

Want to enter the workforce more quickly? The department has a growing list of one-year certificate programs. Already juggling a job or family? Accelerated cohorts have been created so that students can maintain their daytime responsibilities while earning an associate degree. A cohort allows students to enter and finish a course sequence together, with the benefit of the same supportive community.

Business and Computer Technology is made up of 30 faculty members, all of whom have their fingers on the pulse of ever-changing business and computer practices. Courses are continually modified to reflect changes in the skills and knowledge graduates need to be successful in business and industry. Students benefit from constantly updated software and computer labs across the College’s five campuses.

BCT faculty does an exceptional job of fulfilling its commitment to student success. The department takes pride in having an excellent reputation in the Knoxville area and a long-term job placement rate of more than 90 percent. Future small-business owners, payroll accountants, computer technicians, branch managers, medical office managers, chefs, caterers, hotel managers, human resources assistants—all will benefit from a first-rate faculty and education at Pellissippi State.
