Civil and Construction Engineering

Civil and Construction Engineering (A.A.S.)

Are you a planner? Do you like to design and build stuff? Are you a wiz at Minecraft? Turn all that into a lifelong career with a degree in Civil and Construction Engineering.

Pellissippi State’s hands-on program will give you the skills to start working immediately after graduating with your associate degree, but also allows you to continue to a bachelor’s degree if you prefer. We are the only associate degree program that fully transfers to Construction Science and Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

In the classroom, you will learn everything from surveying to project cost estimating to basic 3D modeling. Visits to local construction sites will provide you opportunities to meet industry professionals and get real-world experience in the field. You also will work with state-of-the-art surveying equipment and a new concrete compression machine at our Hardin Valley Campus.

Pellissippi State classes are small, so there is plenty of opportunity for one-on-one time with instructors as well.

With a degree in Civil and Construction Engineering, you will be on your way to playing a vital role in our country’s infrastructure. As populations grow, many bridges, roads and buildings will need to be designed, redesigned, built or rebuilt. Many of our graduates are placed in jobs right away while others go on to get a degree at a four-year institution.

TYPICAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES:Project manager, construction scheduler, construction superintendent, construction estimator, building inspector, construction manager, building supervisor, general contractor and plans reviewer.

Median salary: $45,000 to $65,000
