Fee Definitions

Tuition

In-State Tuition –  The charge is $176 per credit hour up to 12 hours and $38 more per each additional hour*. This fee is charged to all in-state students enrolled in credit or audit courses. It is calculated based on the number of hours for which the student is enrolled.

Out-of-State Tuition – The charge is $726 per credit hour up to 12 hours and $148 more per each additional hour*. This fee is charged to all students classified as nonresidents of Tennessee and/or students who have not verified their US citizenship who are enrolled in credit or audit courses. It is calculated based on the number of hours for which the student is enrolled.

Dual Enrollment Tuition – The charge is $176 per credit hour up to 12 hours and $38 more per each additional hour*.  This fee is charged to all Dual Enrollment students enrolled in credit or audit courses.  It is calculated based on the number of credit hours for which the student is enrolled. Dual Enrollment students are also charged $8.80 per credit hour up to 12 hours and $1.90 more per each additional hour* for the Dual Enrollment Access Fee. Dual Enrollment students are charged for any direct costs such as eText materials. Per state law, Dual Enrollment students are not charged other registration or course fees.

*The discounted tuition rate is not offered for the summer terms. For summer terms, the standard rate is charged to all applicable hours.

Registration Fees – Include the following:

Program Services Fee – This nonrefundable fee is to support programs and the campus. This fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit. This fee is also charged to all faculty and staff.$13
Student Government Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit. This fee was adopted by the Student Government Association to provide funds for a variety of student activities.$4
International Education Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit. This fee supports cultural and international opportunities and student activities for all students, and promotes student’s world knowledge. This fee assists in integrating cultural and international concepts across all academic disciplines in order to increase a student’s ability to compete in the international environment.$15
Sustainable Campus Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit during the fall and spring semesters. This fee was approved by the students to fund green and recycling projects on campus.$10
Student Activity Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit. This fee was approved by students to provide funds for student activities and events.$3
Student Recreation Center Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit. This fee will be $8 per semester for fewer than 6 hours or $15 per semester for 6 or more hours.See description
Technology Fee – This fee is charged to all students enrolled in courses for credit or audit. The funds are used to maintain and upgrade student lab equipment, library automation and other instructional technology. This fee is $15 per credit hour up to a maximum fee of $116.See description

Program & Service Fees – Can include any or all of the following:

Bookstore Online Access Fee/eTextbook – This fee, charged to all students enrolled in a participating course, covers the cost of the required online course materials.  More information regarding participating courses and fee amounts can be found at Costs:  eTextbook See description
Bowling Fee – This fee, charged to all students enrolled in a bowling course, covers the charge to Pellissippi State from the bowling facility. $40
CIW Testing Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students enrolled a Certified Internet Webmaster exam course. $70/80
Culinary Arts Fee – The charge is $150 per credit hour. This fee is charged to all students who are enrolled in culinary arts courses. See description
Deferred Payment Late Fee – This nonrefundable fee is charged for each required payment that is not received by the college by the due date established by the payment plan. $25
Deferred Payment Service Charge – This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students electing the payment plan for fee payment. $20
Golf Fee – This fee, charged to all students enrolled in a golf course, covers the charge to Pellissippi State from the golf facility. $30
Late Registration Fee – This nonrefundable fee may be charged to any student that enrolls in credit, audit, or TN eCampus online courses during the entire period of late registration, which is any time after final registration. $20
Music Fee – The charge is $55 per credit hour. This fee is charged to all students who receive individual instruction. See description
Nursing Fee – The charge is $25 per credit hour. This fee is charged to all students who are enrolled in nursing courses. See description
Student Medical Insurance – This nonrefundable fee is required for all international students under F1 status. See description
Welding Fee – The charge is $50 per credit hour. This fee is charged to all students who are enrolled in welding courses. See description
Identification Card Replacement$10
The first student identification card is issued to all entering students at no charge. There is a replacement charge of $10 for lost or damaged cards. This fee is paid at the Student Account Services Office during regular business hours. Present the receipt at one of the ID production sites for issuance of a new ID card.
Library Replacement FeesSee description
This fee is for the replacement cost of library materials lost or deemed lost due to an overdue status. The fee consists of the replacement cost of the books, periodicals or other items.
Library Repair FeesSee description
This nonrefundable fee is for the actual cost of repair (re-binding) of books and materials.
Returned Check Fee$30
This nonrefundable fee is charged to all students issuing paper check or web-check payment that is later returned to Pellissippi State from a financial institution because payment has been refused.
Collection FeesSee description
This fee is added to delinquent accounts that are submitted to an outside agency for collection. The fee is calculated based on a percentage of the delinquent account amount and should not exceed 33 and 1/3 percent.

TN eCampus Fees

TN eCampus TuitionSee description
The charge is $176 per credit hour. This fee is charged to all students enrolled in TN eCampus online courses. It is calculated based on the number of hours for which the student is enrolled.
TN eCampus Online FeesSee description
The charge is $70 per credit hour. This fee is charged to all students enrolled in TN eCampus online courses. It is calculated based on the number of credit hours for TN eCampus courses only. This fee is in addition to  TN eCampus tuition.
TN eCampus Out-of-State TuitionSee description
The charge is $550 per credit hour. This is an additional fee charged to students classified as nonresidents of Tennessee who are enrolled in TN eCampus online courses. Out-of-state tuition is calculated based on the number of hours for which the student is enrolled. This fee is in addition to TN eCampus in-state tuition. Students are classified as non-residents by the Admissions office.
