The Pellissippi State Foundation was chartered by the state of Tennessee in 1982, and the Foundation gained tax-exempt status as a 501(c)3 in 1983. A Board of Trustees — volunteer representatives from local industry, community leaders and donors — governs the Foundation.

The Pellissippi State Foundation’s Board of Trustees comprises volunteers from local industry, community leaders and donors. The Board meets four times each year. Board committees meet an average of four times per year. The Executive Committee meets before every meeting of the full Board of Trustees.
The Foundation Board of Trustees meets on a quarterly basis from 7:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. on the second Friday of the month. The majority of board meetings are held on the Hardin Valley Campus, but other campus locations are included as well. Virtual option participation is available for board members.
