HESI A2 Entrance Exam

All applicants must take the HESI A2 nursing entrance exam in order to receive consideration for admission. 

Deadline for Traditional for Fall is January 31 and Traditional for Spring is September 15, 2020.

Deadline for Spring Bridge is September 15, 2020.

The nursing department will use your HESI-A2 results for your admissions ranking. This exam cannot hurt your chances for admissions, but can only help add points to your ranking score. If a student scores above a 90% on the Math, Reading, Anatomy & Physiology, Learning Styles, and Personality Profile sections, that student will receive bonus ranking points. If students have not taken all five sections listed above, they will not be penalized on their ranking score.

Students are allowed to take the nursing entrance exam only once per application period.

Please allow four hours for the exam. Test results are available immediately. The cost of the exam will cost approximately $50. Day, evening, and weekend testing hours are available during testing months.

In order to take this exam at any of the Pellissippi State campuses you will need to be admitted as a Pellissippi State student with a working Pellissippi State email and Student ID Number (PNumber). If you do not have access to either of these, please contact Pellissippi State Admissions.

Registration or cancellation MUST be at least 24 hours prior to test. Please arrive 20 minutes early to the scheduled testing site. Those arriving late will NOT be allowed to test. Test sessions are available on all PSCC campuses.

Please familiarize yourself with the Testing Center Policies before you arrive to take the HESI-A2.  You will need to bring a valid photo ID with you to the Testing Center as well as a receipt showing payment for the HESI-A2 test. Calculators are not allowed. Scratch paper and pencils are provided by the Testing Center. No cell phones, personal items or children will be permitted.

Students who have not taken the HESI Nursing Entrance exam by application deadline will automatically be denied enrollment in the Nursing Program.

Students who did not take their HESI exam at PSCC, must contact Elsevier (1-800-222-9570)and have official results sent to the Department of Nursing. HESI Transcripts must arrive to Pellissippi State prior to application deadline.

HESI scores are valid for 5 years.

Once you have finished and submitted the HESI-A2, your results are automatically sent to the Nursing Department.                      

Testing period for the Traditional-Fall Nursing Program is available: October 1 – January 31.

Testing period for the Spring Bridge and Traditional-Spring is available: March 1-August 31.
