Pellissippi State Announcements: Community invited to ‘Good Arguments’ event at Magnolia Avenue Campus

 

Pellissippi State Community College invites the community to attend a presentation by Kenny E. Hawkins, sports director for News Channel 11 WJHL in Johnson City, about being able to understand and present good arguments. The free event will be held from 11 a.m.-noon, Nov. 7, in the community room at Pellissippi State’s Magnolia Avenue Campus. The event is sponsored by the Beyond the Common Book Club, which facilitates discussions about the college’s annual common reading for all freshmen students. This year’s Common Book is “An Illustrated Book of Bad Arguments,” by Ali Almossawi. Anyone interested in the career fields of journalism or communications are particularly encouraged to attend. Pellissippi State Announcements: Voter Registration at Magnolia Avenue Campus

Pellissippi State Community College’s Magnolia Avenue Campus will host a free voter registration event for students and the community from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, in room 100. Attendees can register to vote in the upcoming presidential election as well as practice in a voting booth. The event is sponsored by Knoxville Area Urban League Young Professionals, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Pellissippi State Announcements: Magnolia Avenue Open House

Pellissippi State Community College will hold an open house at its Magnolia Avenue Campus, 1610 E. Magnolia Ave., from 5-7:30 p.m. April 28. The free open house is open to anyone interested in receiving more information about a college degree. The event will feature information about admissions, enrollment, tutoring, counseling and financial aid. Attendees also can view demonstrations in the Nursing lab and become eligible for a $250 scholarship drawing. Although the event is free, attendees are asked to RSVP at http://www.pstcc.edu/admissions/marsvp/. Pellissippi State holds annual book sale to benefit student scholarships

All types of books — from fiction to non-fiction and children’s books to cookbooks — will be available at this year’s Student Scholarship Book Sale at Pellissippi State Community College. The sale, which is held annually, will take place at all five of the college’s campuses during March and April. Proceeds from the sale go directly toward student scholarships.

Bargain hunters may also find collectible magazines like National Geographic, as well as a nice selection of DVDs and CDs. Pellissippi State faculty, staff and students, as well as community members, contributed items for the sale.

  • Blount County Campus — March 28-29, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and March 30, 8 a.m.-noon, second floor main corridor
  • Division Street Campus — March 28-29, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and March 30, 8:30 a.m.-noon, room 118
  • Hardin Valley Campus — April 4-5, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and April 6, 8 a.m.-noon, College Center in the Goins Administration Building
  • Magnolia Avenue Campus — April 11-12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., front lobby
  • Strawberry Plains Campus — April 18-19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., campus lobby
