What types of careers are available in culinary arts?

Earning this degree opens possibilities for a dynamic future in the food service industry — locally and worldwide. Graduates can enter careers in industries including restaurants, catering, clubs, hotels, conventions, attractions and travel. Many opportunities exist, ranging from station chef to sous chef and beyond.


Pellissippi State’s Culinary Arts program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation. Pellissippi State faculty chefs teach to American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification standards and bring significant expertise to the many specialty facets of culinary education. Graduates certify through the National Restaurant Association in food production and sanitation. They can apply to the ACF to become certified culinarians, the first step toward professional chef certification.

Support from a Cohort

The Culinary Arts program is offered as a cohort. In a cohort, students begin and progress through a degree program together, as a united group. Cohorts encourage greater community and teamwork among students, as well as greater individualized attention from faculty.
